Running club to race through Richland
The 3 Rivers Road Runners is set to host a November racing event at the USS Triton Submarine Memorial in Richland.
The 47th Annual Columbia River Classic is a running event presented by the 3 Rivers Road Runners club where people can compete in a 10-mile race or enjoy a casual experience at the 2 Mile Dash. The course will have aid stations that provide participants with energy gel and water. Entrants in the 2 Mile Dash will get a keepsake for completing the course, and top finishers for the 10-mile race will receive special awards from the organizers.
The 3 Rivers Road Runners is a group that is open to those of all running abilities and sizes. The organization aims to get more people interested in athletic activities by organizing fun events. One of the club’s main goals is to combat childhood obesity by offering free entry to their mile dashes to those 15 and under. The group also donates money to help improve physical education programs in local elementary schools. Membership fees for the club cost $20 per household.
The races will be held on Saturday, November 12th. People may enter the 2 Mile Dash for $10, and those entering the 10-mile race can pay $20. Registrants will need to pay late fees if they sign up for the event after October 29th. Clubs that hold races like these can engage with event-goers by offering them free promotional products.
