Richland to host two triathlons

Adults and children can participate in two upcoming triathlons held in August at Howard Amon Park in Richland.

The Plutonium Man Triathlon is a chip-timed athletic event where participants can compete to win race glasses. The course will begin with a swim in the Columbia River near the North Richland starch plant, followed by a cycling portion on Sprout Road and George Washington Way. The running section will pass by local landmarks like the Triton Submarine monument and the WSU campus.

Children interested in competing in a triathlon can participate in the Titanium Man Junior Triathlon. The course is designed to keep kids safe as they swim, bike, and run through Howard Amon Park. The swimming section will be held in a shallow area of the river, and there will be boats and swimmers to support the children. All athletes must wear a helmet when cycling, and the run will only take place on a footpath.

The adult triathlon will be held on Saturday, August 27 from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, and the triathlon for kids will occur on Saturday, August 20 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The cost to compete in the adult’s competition is $45, and the price of the children’s contest is $25. Organizers of community activities like this can use banner printing to make outdoor displays that promote the events to local athletes.
