Athletes interested in a summertime race can enter a triathlon held at Howard Amon Park in Richland.
The Righteous Richland Sprint Triathlon is a challenging activity where participants can race through a scenic park. The course will consist of swimming along the Columbia River, biking on paths in the Chamna Nature Preserve, and running back to the finish line at Howard Amon Park. All racers are chip timed and will receive their chips when checking in at the event. People may choose to be an individual competitor or join the race as a three-person team.
There are a few regulations all participants must follow while at the triathlon. During the biking section of the race, each competitor must use a mountain bike with 26-to-29-inch wheels. Road tires will not be allowed on the course. Racers also cannot use mail-in registration to sign up for the triathlon or register on the date of the event. Winners will be asked to collect their awards at the park’s picnic shelter.
The triathlon will be held on Saturday, July 9 from 8:30 am to 11:00 am. Packets can be picked up at the Kennewick Trek Store on July 8 from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Racers must pay $40 to register for the event. Those in charge of athletic contests like this may use banner printing to produce easy-to-notice ads for their competitions.
