Richland running event to help crush cancer

The Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation will organize an athletic event in Richland starting in September to raise funds for its cause.

The Cancer Crushing Challenge Run is an event aiming to generate awareness and promote cancer prevention while also earning money for the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation. There will be an in-person race at Richland’s Howard Amon Park for those interested in a timed challenge. A virtual version of the event will be available for runners who cannot make it to the live race. People who complete the activity will earn a ribbon and finisher swag.

The Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation is a charitable group aiming to provide necessary services to cancer patients for free. The organization also supports programs such as cancer education presentations and no-cost screenings. The cancer center was built in 1994 and offers helpful patient care services like nutritional consultations, fitness programs, and free wigs. Organizations can educate their patients by providing them with informational pamphlets made using brochure printing.

The virtual challenge will begin on September 25 and end on October 2, while the in-person race will take place on October 2 at 10:00 am. The cost to participate in any of the events at the fundraiser is $35. Registration is mandatory for the activity and will open to the public on August 1 at 8:00 am.
