Richland presentation to discuss famous bootlegger
The Richland Public Library will be inviting Steve Edminston to give a lecture in November about legendary bootlegger Roy Olmstead.
Whiskey and Wiretaps: The Northwest’s Rumrunning King is a presentation that explores the life of Olmstead and gives context to his life. Olmstead was a lieutenant in the Seattle Police Department who became a bootlegger and was arrested in 1925. The lecture will use real photos, documents, and newspapers to share information about him. Topics covered in the program include Olmstead’s moral code and how he has impacted modern times.
Edminston is a lawyer who works at Bracepoint Law and is a public speaker for topics related to history, entertainment, and business. He is also the co-founder of The Good Bootlegger’s Guild. Edminston has even written and directed indie films such as Reinventing the Patriot and The Periphery Project, Vol. I. His past lectures have taken place at venues like the Washington State Historical Museum and Smith Tower Rumrunner’s Club.
The presentation on Olmstead will be held on November 18 and will begin at 7:00 pm. Attendees will not need to pay to view Edminston’s lecture. The time and mode of presentation are subject to change depending on guidelines set by state and health department directives. Organizers for historical lessons such as this may promote the activity to others using flyer printing services.
