Students interested in learning about investigative work can attend an analysis class at the Richland Police Department in March.
The Bloodstain Pattern Analysis I course is a multiday training program where students learn how to interpret crime scenes from a professional. The course instructor will be Tom Griffin, who served as a criminal investigator and laboratory agent for the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. He is also a member of the Organization of Scientific Area Committees and is a founding member of the company NecroSearch.
Griffin, who has given presentations in Canada and the United Kingdom, works as an instructor for Bevel, Gardner, & Associates Inc. The organization is a forensics consulting and education group that offers an accurate peer-reviewed analysis of complex scenes. The company teaches various subjects aside from bloodstain pattern analysis, including forensic uses of animation and practical crime scene processing. Organizations with courses like this can advertise their programs with flyer printing.
The analysis class will begin on Monday, March 29 and will end on Friday, April 2. The cost to attend the lessons will be $655 per student, which includes the course textbook. The class will have a casual dress code, and attendees are encouraged to bring a scientific calculator. The organization also offers a level two course for bloodstain analysis and a mentorship program.
