Richland will be hosting a fundraiser in October to benefit the Down Syndrome Association of the Mid-Columbia (DSAMC).
Drive Up for Down Syndrome is a new fundraising activity where the community can safely support a good cause without leaving their cars. Awards will be given to the teams who have raised the most money and collected the highest number of registered participants. Another prize is available for the team with the most decked-out vehicle at the fundraiser. The current goal for this year’s event is to raise $75,000. To-go activities will be given to attendees.
The DSAMC is an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with Down syndrome through education, support, and promoting public acceptance of those with the condition. The Fowler and Jensen families founded the non-profit group. Several events are organized by the DSAMC, including the Rock Your Socks Fun Run and the Glitz & Glam Benefit. Those who create fundraisers like these may share their cause with others through poster printing.
The activity will take place on Saturday, October 9 and will open at 10:30 am. People interested in registering or donating to the fundraiser can sign up on the group’s main event page. Registration fees cost $15, which will include a T-shirt, snacks, and access to activities. Children eight and younger may register for $10, and those with Down syndrome do not need to pay for registration.
