Reach museum seeking new CEO

The Reach museum in the Tri-Cities area is searching for a new CEO.

While the hunt is on, Nick Ceto, a former member of the museum's governing board, has stepped forward to serve as the interim director for the Reach. Ceto is taking the role on as a volunteer.

Those serving on the search committee for the new CEO don't expect to make a hire or to have someone in the permanent role until March at the least. To help get the word out about the search, museums can use printing companies to create flyers and mailings.

The new CEO of the Reach Museum will have big shoes to fill. Lisa Toomey, who recently stepped down from the role, had been working with the institution since 2012, when it was a project that had trouble getting off of the ground. Under her leadership, the museum was actually built and developed into the institution it is today, one that brings in thousands of visitors every year.

The board of the museum approved a $794,000 budget for the facility for the coming year. The cost of a full-time CEO is included in the total budget, with $50,000 of that money coming from an unnamed, local company.

Although Toomey has retired from her role at the museum, she still plans on being active in the community around Richland and Kennewick. She'll be serving as the director for the Columbia Basin and Yakima Valley programs at Ronald McDonald House Charities.
