Kennewick women invited to apply for scholarships
Women hoping to further in their education in the Tri-City area have several scholarship options available from Soroptimist of Pasco-Kennewick.
The local branch of the international volunteer organization has three scholarship and grant programs available, all of which are currently accepting applications.
The three scholarship programs from Soroptimist in Pasco-Kennewick are designed for women at different stages of their lives or with various life goals.
For example, the Helen Cox Scholarship is given to a woman who is currently in her junior year. The recipient of the scholarship needs to be an accounting or business-related major. Part of the application process involves presenting a plan that would allow the candidate to maximize her career potential. Eligible candidates also need to have good leadership skills and qualities. The deadline for applications is January 15.
Another scholarship, the Professional-Technical scholarship, goes to a woman who is pursuing a degree in a technical field or a license or certification in a technical area. Qualified candidates also need to live within 75 miles of the Tri-City area and should have made academic progress at their current school. The deadline for applications is also January 15.
The deadline for the final scholarship, The Live Your Dream: Education and Training Award, is November 15. The scholarship provides cash money to women who are the main breadwinners for their families and who need financial help continuing their educations.
