Fans of fast food in Kennewick have something to celebrate.
The Taco Bell located at West Kennewick and Highway 395 has reopened for business. First built in 1992, the building that formerly housed the fast food establishment was demolished in the spring. A larger restaurant, this one measuring 2,530 square feet, was built in its place.
Along with the newly rebuilt Taco Bell, a new Subway restaurant has opened up in nearby Benton City. The new Subway is the first location of the franchise chain to open in the area in 15 years.
Jeremy Schultz, an entrepreneur from Richland, devoted 18 months to working to bring back Subway. He received funding for the franchise from a Small Business Administration-backed loan, from the sale of a duplex he owned with his wife, and from profits from another business he owns – KC Brand Kettle Corn. Schultz started KC Brand Kettle Corn at the Toyota Center in 2004, selling its popcorn during fundraisers, fairs, and festivals, as well as to wholesale customers.
Franchises and chains can use business card printing to let patrons of other area locations know about the newest openings.
Although the new Subway is the first in a long while in Benton City, there are 15 other locations in the Tri-Cities area. Schultz chose Benton City specifically because of its lack of a Subway and because the population in the area is growing.
The new Subway is open seven days a week.
