The city of Renton is hosting several special holiday activities this month.
To see in this weekend, the Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park along Lake Washington will be the home for the city’s holiday lights. There will also be lights at Piazza Park and on street poles in the downtown business area. Lights will run from this Friday, December 3 through New Year’s Day.
Also, the Renton Civic Center and the Renton Downtown Partnership will be hosting the Santa House. Visitors can have their photos taken with the man himself on Saturday December 4, 11, and 18, as well as Sunday, December 19.
The Renton Community Center will be the site for a holiday gift drive. Clothes such as hats, gloves, jackets, and socks and new unwrapped toys can be dropped off on Thursday, December 9 from 12:30 to 6:00 pm.
The next day, the parking lot of the Community Center will be hosting the Battle of the Badges. Regional public safety personnel will decorate a tent or their safety vehicles in the holiday theme of their choice. The community will then be able to drive through the parking lot and vote for their favorite based on criteria like holiday spirit, overall design, and creative use of lights.
Activities like these are often promoted throughout a community with poster printing.
