Renton to host academy for city residents and businesses

The first Civic Academy has been launched by the city of Renton.

The Academy is an opportunity for residents to get an inside look at the functioning of the city. Attendees will get a deeper understanding of the responsibilities of the city’s various departments and learn more about the decision-making process of the city.

Staff and leadership from the city will lead tours of city facilities, facilitate hands-on activities that provide attendees with a glimpse into the daily operations of the city, and address questions from attendees.

The Civic Academy is a five-week course and is free to all residents and business owners of Renton who are 18 years of age and older, with priority given to workers and residents within the city limits. Applications for the course are now available online and those who are interested in the academy are encouraged to apply early as spots are limited. Those who participate need to commit to attending at least four of the five classes to earn a Renton Civic Academy Certificate upon completion of the program.

Flyer printing can be used to provide more details about such programs, their sessions, and their benefits for attendees.

The Academy will meet from Thursday, February 13 through Thursday, March 20 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at various locations throughout the city.
