King County Metro is planning to move forward with the Renton-Kent-Auburn Area Mobility Plan (RKAAMP) as it has been approved by the King County Council.
Print shops can be hired to provide more detailed information about such plans, its routes, and their schedules.
The goal of the plan is to provide an upgraded, integrated mobility network with changes in the fixed-route network. First, the many routes of RKAAMP will be operating at full service, after some were cut or suspended over the past few months. The cities served by the RKAAMP will also see five new routes and improved service times during nighttime hours and over the weekends. These are expected to start next year.
There will also be a new RapidRide I Line serving the residents of Auburn, Kent, and Renton. This will be a replacement of an existing line and create a one bus ride connection between the cities that will run all day. This route is expected to be operational in three years.
Next year, King County Metro will begin looking at more flexible service alternatives like community vans and rides for such areas as Benson near the Valley Medical Center. Vans are driven by volunteers who carpool with others while rides have a defined service area and are like ride shares. These are by-request services in areas where a 40-foot bus is not needed to run every half hour.
