Renton to fund affordable housing and health facilities

The Renton City Council has authorized three projects to begin, aiding the construction of mental and behavioral health-related facilities, and affordable housing.

Cities often turn to printing services of many kinds to inform the community of such projects and their benefits for the community.

The first project is Sunset Gardens, a project of the Renton Housing Authority (RHA). This development will include 76 one-bedroom and 76 studio affordable housing units. Of this, 22 units will be for seniors, 16 units for people with disabilities, and 38 units will be for veterans. This project will be one block from the Sunset Neighborhood Park and the Renton Highlands Library, and within walking distance of Sunset Neighborhood Center.

Another project is the Mental Health Navigator Program. This will be implemented by the Renton Police Department, in which a mental health professional and a police officer will be partnered together. These two as a unit will respond to calls from those experiencing a mental health or behavioral crisis and will connect them with special services such as referrals to state and local programs.

The last is a Behavioral Health Center. The city is investigating sites for this center which will offer resources for those who are close to or are experiencing homelessness. These will include counseling, job training, transitional housing, and outreach services. Its future may be the severe weather shelter for the city.
