A rehabilitation project in Renton near The Landing mixed-use development and the Boeing Factory in Renton was recently started by the Wastewater Treatment Division of King County's Department of Natural Resources and Parks (WTD).
This project will clean and enhance close to a mile of an aging sewer pipe that is 96 inches in diameter and carries 45 million gallons of wastewater per day from the King County’s South Treatment Plant in Renton, servicing businesses and homes in the eastside.
The project is expected to cost $18 million and the leading construction management team is the Bellevue office of Stantec working with the WTD. Kiewit is the contractor for the project.
Critical to the project is the ability to minimize impacts on the community as this is a busy area in the city. It affects intersection crossings for residents and business, which number over 12,000 people who shop, dine, and live at The Landing and work at the Boeing facility; detours for pedestrians and bicycles; and many locations to control odor. Banner printing can be used at such critical intersections to inform residents and employees as to updated routes.
Principal from Stantec and project manager, Chris Ruiz, said that his company is looking forward to working with WTD in making these important infrastructure repairs for residents of King County.
