The city of Renton is accepting applications for the Tourism Promotion grants for 2022.
This is the second round of Lodging Tax Grants for events for this year. Organizations with activities or programs that promote tourism can now apply for these grants. Events eligible for these grants are not limited to taking place within the city limits, although grants for events not within the city limits need to show that they will attract tourism within the city itself. Multiple events may be submitted by organizations.
Poster printing is often used throughout a city to inform organizations of such opportunities and to encourage groups to apply for funding.
The Hotel Motel Tax of Washington state is the source of funds for these grants. This tax is collected on all lodging in the city for stays of 30 days or shorter.
The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee will hold an online session to hear the request of those who are selected as finalists.
Renton is just south of Seattle on the southeast shore of Lake Washington and is the home of Boeing, the Seattle Seahawks, and the Seattle Sounders FC.
The deadline for all applications is Friday, May 13 at 4:30 pm. Presentations made by the finalists will be on Tuesday, May 24. The Renton City Council will receive the final recommendations and make its decision on the recipients in June.
