The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) has provided funding for Phase II of the Sunset Neighborhood Park project in Renton.
The funds will match those that include a grant from the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund, and $1.8m from the city of Renton.
The park covers about three acres in the Sunset neighborhood of Renton, which is one where over a quarter of the population live in poverty. The project will provide access to the neighborhood and help to transform the area and deal with many challenges related to health, academics, and public safety. Print shops often design Flyers and other materials to promote such parks throughout a neighborhood.
The first phase of the project included the building of pedestrian paths, seated areas, a plaza, and landscaping. The second phase will add exercise areas for those between the ages of two and five, and then other areas for those between five and twelve. There will also be fitness areas for adults and teenagers, as well as a climbing structure with dual helix towers that will be the first structure of its kind in the state. Also planned are covered gazebos, a large open lawn area, and areas for picnicking.
The park is expected to be open to the public later this month and will be an ideal place to gather for residents of the neighborhood.
