It is expected that the City Council of Renton will approve funding in the form of grants for four projects around the city, all designed for neighborhood improvement.
The $45,000 needed for these projects would include environmental restoration along May Creek, upgrades for a park in the Kennydale area, and a new mural in the downtown. The Neighborhood Project Grant Funds for 2019 of the city would provide the money for these projects which were selected by a committee of members from the community and city officials.
Publicizing such projects to the community is often accomplished through flyer printing services.
The city would provide a grant of $1,800 to rehabilitate part of the May Creek near the neighborhood of Barbee Mill. Invasive plants would be removed in addition to other improvements along the May Creek Trail to the edge of Lake Washington.
In the LaCrosse neighborhood, a grant of $14,500 would go towards upgrading a small park. The park has dead plants that need to be replaced, and drainage issues to be tackled.
The Renton Municipal Arts Commission, the Downtown Partnership, and the South Renton Connection would receive a grant of $16,000 to create a mural at Smither Avenue and South 3rd. Spanning 78, the mural would be located along the north side of the Burger Town restaurant.
