The Family First Community Center (FFCC) is currently under construction in the Cascade/Benson Hill area of Renton next to the Cascade Elementary School. The underground utilities have been installed and the first-floor concrete slab has been poured.
The completed Community Center will offer a combination of classes and programs after school, sports for both adults and youth, health education, personal training, group exercise, and nutrition and cooking classes. There will also be activities for children, infants, and toddlers.
In addition, classes in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics will be offered by the Renton School District and behavioral health, dental, and medical care will be offered by HealthPoint. The many financial and transportation barriers to accessing health care by those families with low incomes in the Cascade/Benson Hill area will be removed by these being offered at the center. Residents will also have easier access to care and other programs. Such services, programs, classes, and activities are often highlighted and promoted throughout the community with poster printing.
The Center is made possible by a partnership among the Family First Community Center of Doug Baldwin, the city of Bellevue, HealthPoint, and the Renton School District. Baldwin is a former player in the Seattle Seahawks and understands how a neighborhood center can have a positive impact on the community.
The center is expected to be completed early next year.
