Parks in Renton to undergo renovations and improvements

Several improvement projects are currently planned by the Parks Planning and Natural Resources Division in Renton.

Details about such improvements are often made available to the community with flyer printing.

There are two projects at Coulon Park. One involves making major renovations to the North Water Walk, while the other is replacing the North Trestle Bridge.

Work on the North Water Walk is almost complete. The Pilot House has been painted, new utility lines have been installed, and half of the light-penetrating decking is in place. Yet to be completed are the remaining decking, railings, light fixtures, and ADA-accessible picnic floats.

The new North Trestle Bridge will be a clear span bridge with interpretive signing, a viewpoint, and decking that allows the penetration of light to enhance fish habitat. All the 58 piles supporting the bridge have been removed and will be replaced. The projects are scheduled to be completed this summer.

Kiwanis Park, which is 60 years old, will see major site improvements, including looped walkways, accessible entrances, replacement of the playground, renovation of the sports and basketball courts, improvements to the ballfield, and a new picnic shelter.

Philip Arnold Park is also 60 years old and is undergoing major improvements, including the installation of picnic shelters, signage, renovation of the basketball court, play equipment, and paving. The work on the park is expected to be completed this summer.
