New soccer center breaks ground in Renton

The Sounders FC Center at Longacres in Renton is set to join the community.

Ground has been broken on their new world-class facility, which will be the home for all soccer operations, ranging from the youth academy to the first team, and all business operations. The new facility will have 50,000 sq. ft. of office space and four full-size training pitches. Flyer printing is often used to offer more details about such facilities and planned events and games. The city of Renton and Unico Properties are working with the Sounders on this project.

Mayor Armondo Pavone expressed his pride in Adrian Hanauer, majority owner of the Sounders FC, and Garth Lagerway, general manager and president of soccer, that they have selected Renton for their home. He added that he is excited to help them achieve their goals and become part of the community.

The Sounders FC Center at Longacres has the potential to become a training base for a country participating in the 2026 World Cup should Seattle be chosen as a location for the event. Currently, there are more than 20 US cities hoping stage matches in 2026, with the plan being to select 11 successful candidates from these.

The team’s commitment to the community is demonstrated in their RAVE Green Foundation working with the Parks and Recreation Department to create a mini-pitch area in Highlands Park.

The new facility is slated to open sometime in 2024.
