High-tech entertainment complex proposed for Renton

A proposal for a new state-of-the-art Topgolf sports and entertainment complex in Renton is currently being discussed.

The plan is to construct a driving range facility on a vacant parcel of land measuring 13.68 acres in size, that once belonged to Boeing for the production of 737 airplanes. Boeing sold it for $10m in 2010. The property is just south of The Landing Shopping center.

Communications director for the City of Renton, Preeti Shridhar, said Topgolf plans to build a mixed-use development project that would include both low-rise and high-rise apartment buildings, spaces for pedestrians; parking on site and in garages; and several underground utilities to enhance the property. He added his excitement about the prospect of Topgolf coming to Renton.

The Topgolf building itself would have hitting bays that accommodate six people and microchipped golf balls so that people earn points as they hit targets. There are also restaurants, bars, television screens, and space for corporate events and music shows, so that Topgolf appeals to golfers as well as non-golfers. Flyer printing can be used to create Flyers with more information about the amenities that are available at such facilities.

Denis Law, Mayor of Renton, said the idea is in a pre-proposal phase. There have been meetings with the community and the company is working with city officials to determine how this plan can be put into action.
