Grants for the arts now available in Renton

Grant applications are being accepted by the Renton Municipal Arts Commission for the city’s culture and art projects this year.

These projects should be of a cultural, artistic, and heritage nature that will serve both visitors and residents of Renton. Innovative projects that increase the understanding of people as individuals and a society, showcase the cultural diversity in the city, and inspire opportunities for growth and new Forms of creative participation are also being encouraged.

The goal of the grant program is to encourage the display of the work of emerging artists and art forms; encourage partnerships among businesses, organizations, agencies, artists, and performers; and to integrate the arts into the urban environment to promote tourism and commerce. Poster printing is often used throughout a city to boost applications for such programs and to increase awareness of the arts in a city.

The Renton Arts Commission was created over 50 years ago to serve in an advisory capacity to the city government to encourage artistic and cultural development in the city and to serve as stewards of the art collection of the city.

Applications for these grants can be submitted at any time, with awards ranging from $500 to $10,000. The Arts Commission will review the applications on the first Tuesday of every month with the projects needing to be completed by December 31, 2021.
