The Renton Reporter, the Seahawks, and the Renton Chamber of Commerce and business organizations in the area will be partnering to give back to teachers of distinction chosen by the community in an event to be held in the spring of next year.
The Ahead of the Class awards for 2021 will take place at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC) in Renton in April. This program is one of the efforts of the Chamber to enable organizations, businesses, and individuals to invest in a better future for the young people in the area. It is designed to enhance awareness in the community of the excellent education provided by Renton teachers.
Students, peers, parents, and others in the community are encouraged to nominate teaches as difference makers. More information about the nomination process is often provided with materials created by Print shops in the area. Local volunteers read through those who are nominated and select 10 finalists. Finalists are notified by a visit from local officials in their classroom and are given a special invitation to attend the awards ceremony at the VMAC in the heart of Seahawks territory. The five runners up are awarded cash prizes of $100 each while the top five will receive $500 each. All are also given an engraved award.
This year’s ceremony will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Wednesday April 14, 2021.
