Emergency management course graduates first from FAA

Renton native Joseph P. Cirone is the first person from Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to graduate from the National Emergency Management Advanced Academy (NEMAA) of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The program is designed to provide attendees with the strategic level education, essential skills, and training needed to allow those in emergency management to handle dynamic resilient emergency management programs. Announcements such as these can be made known throughout the community using banner printing services.

As a graduate, Cirone has completed four courses lasting one week each at the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) of the National Emergency Training Center (NETC) in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Among the topics covered in the courses are advanced issues and concepts in the emergency management profession, community, and emergency management organization, application and assessment of professional style in emergency management, and a survey of advanced concepts in emergency management.

There is also a guided capstone research project that enables attendees to demonstrate critical thinking skills, and application of knowledge learned in the course.

Cirone said that King County, and counties from Northern California to British Columbia, are under constant threat of tsunamis, earthquakes, and other natural threats on a routine basis, so what he has learned from the course will be useful in assisting these areas at the local, state, and federal levels.
