3D printing workshop in Lacey

People who are interested in learning basic facts about 3D printing have an event coming up just for them.

The Lacey MakerSpace is hosting a number of basic, 30-minute workshops where attendees can learn simple facts about the equipment available. Basic operations and safety will be taught with regard to the 3D printers that are available for use in the MakerSpace. Those who finish the class will be certified to operate the equipment. Those who desire more hands-on, in-depth learning can attend specific workshops where they will find a mentor to work with them one-on-one.

3D printers, as the name implies, is a process which creates an actual, three-dimensional object from the information stored in a digital file. The printer works by building up layer upon layer of material.

The concept of makerspaces, like the one in Lacey, has caught on in many areas. They are shared spaces that provide people with access to tools and the instructors who are experienced in their use. This allows creative people to collaborate, design, and produce projects using equipment such as laser cutters, 3D printers, and more.

The Basics: 3D Printing class is set for April 7 from 6.30 pm until 7.00 pm. The Lacey MakerSpace is on Zaverl Hall Baran Drive Southeast in Lacey. Organizers of events like this can use brochure printing to create pamphlets explaining the objectives of the class and the equipment to be studied and provide them to attendees.
