Lacey lights up for the season

Lacey has a colorful celebration planned that will bring in the holiday season in style.

Once again, it is almost time to Light Up Lacey. The day brings seasonal activities, lighted vehicles, photos with Santa, and a petting zoo. The highlight of the event is the lighting of Huntamer Park, which includes the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree. The ceremony is an old-fashioned occasion with Santa Claus himself as the guest of honor. Everyone is encouraged to visit Santa and other celebrities who will be on hand and take photos with them. The park will house displays of lighted vehicles, activity booths, food, and a Christmas Petting Zoo.

Food is always an important part of occasions like this. The vendors this year include Olive and Mint, Kona Ice of Olympia, Stack Burger, Taqueria La Esquinita, Travelin Tom’s Coffee, Sweetlee’s Ice Cream, Kreative Kettlecorn, Ay-Chihuahua Dawgs, and Funnel of Love.

Lighted vehicles are part of the fun. Individuals, clubs, and businesses are invited to decorate their cars and trucks with lights and display them throughout the park. The entries can compete for titles such as “Most Cheer.”

Light Up Lacey is scheduled for Monday, December 1, from 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm, at Huntamer Park. The Candy Cane Switch will be flipped at 5.30 pm, lighting up the entire park. Local events like this can benefit if organizers use flyer printing to create handouts announcing the evening, which they can distribute throughout the area.
