A comedian who grew up in Lacey is returning to headline a show in his hometown.

Baurice Nelson is now based in Boise, Idaho, where he regularly appears at the Boise Comedy Lounge. He is often featured with comics such as Gabriel Rutledge, Susan Rice, and Brad Upton. Nelson has built his repertoire over the several years in Idaho, and in appearances at comedy rooms, theaters, and clubs along the West Coast.

Nelson’s comedy is based on his real-life experiences, which makes the material relatable to all audiences, and his style, which is edgy, yet charming and confident, has been credited as being appealing as well. His appearances over the past years have helped him build momentum, which he is now bringing back to Lacey.

Nelson is also a DJ and successful entertainment venue owner and operator. He ran the North Shore Surf Club in downtown Olympia, and enjoys telling the story about the first band he ever booked. He and his only staff member opened the doors to find a line of fans around the block. They had come to see a band Nelson describes as “quiet and odd” that already had a growing following, which turned out to be Nirvana.

Armed with decades of experience in all aspects of the entertainment industry, Nelson has plenty of material for his comedy showcase. He will be at Ricardo’s Kitchen + Bar on September 26. When they book artists like this, organizers can use poster printing to create advertisements for the show.
