What's Happening in Lacey, WA…

Lacey’s annual celebration of culture is now on the schedule.

At the annual Lacey Cultural Celebration, residents share their rich heritage and celebrate the diversity of the city. Regional and local performing arts groups will show their dance and music traditions through displays and demonstrations. Food vendors will prepare their national dishes, and craft vendors will demonstrate their skill. In addition, children will have an opportunity to do hands-on crafts.

The craft and food vendors confirmed for this year are Tacos California, RPJ Asian Ice, Olive & Mint Baked Goods, OMG Gyros, Jerk An Tingz, Green Steamer, Funnel of Love, Cinco de Mayo Fruits & More, Character Cotton Candy, Breakthrough HuliHuli, and Bulgogi Hustle.

The performances and presentations take place each half hour, beginning at 10.00 am. There is a wide variety of talent taking part, from dance troupes to musicians to community supporters. Among those scheduled to appear are members of the Ryuei Ryu Ryuhou Kan Dojo, an Okinawan karate dojo (martial arts school); and the Indian American STAR, an organization supporting Native American youth.

Youngsters haven’t been forgotten. They are invited to pick up a “passport” at the entrance to the event, then go “exploring” the world by visiting booths and collecting Stamps. They can then turn in their passport for a prize.

The Lacey Cultural Celebration is scheduled for March 7, from 10.00 am until 6.00 pm, at St. Martin’s University. Colorful decorations, which organizers can create using banner printing, can enhance events like this.
