Lacey summer concerts set for August

Summer nights bring music to Lacey as a poplar concert series continues.

The Parks, Recreation & Culture Department of the City of Lacey is the organizers of the series of concerts that take place in the summer. The final shows are coming up featuring Billy Shew, and Platinum Soul.

Billy Shew has been in the music industry for more than 30 years after getting his first guitar when he was five, and starting lessons when he was eight. When he was a youngster, he moved throughout the country, experiencing music from different cultures, and spending time overseas.

He studied mathematics and classical guitar in college, and has been playing professionally throughout the Pacific Northwest for the last decades. He gigs in local venues and hosts open blues jams several nights a week. He has a band of his own but also joins in with a country outfit, Nick Cain; he also fills in with others as needed. Shew has released several albums and cites artists like Stevie Ray Vaughn as influences.

Also on the schedule is Platinum Soul, who promise an evening of sweet soul music, R&B, and funk, all to get the audience on its feet. The group comprises professional musicians who enjoy putting on a lively, funky performance.

Billy Shew appears August 6, and Platinum Soul plays on August 13. The concerts take place in Huntamer Park. When they plan outdoor events like this, organizers can use banner printing services to create decorations.
