Issaquah set for storytelling

A talented entertainer will be in Issaquah soon, sharing his music and observations of life.

Chuck Brodsky is a troubadour, songwriter, storyteller, and modern-day poet. He plays acoustic guitar and sings, and using these talents, he sets the stories of ordinary people to music. He uses his songs to tell of the fundamental goodness in most people, although he also pokes fun where he feels it is deserved.

Philadelphia-born and raised, Brodsky was first a pianist, then turned to guitar in college. He cites the Rolling Stones, Greg Brown, Nic Jones, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, John Hartford, Lowell George, Woody Guthrie, and Bob Dylan as major influences on him. The songs he writes are clearly his own, put pay homage to these artists as well.

Brodsky has performed all over the world, but his true passion, aside from music, appears to be baseball. He has released two albums of material featuring tales of the sport, including stories about The Clown Prince of Baseball, Max Patkin, who performed as a baseball clown at minor league parks for 51 years and also fulfilled a role as a wartime spy.

Chuck Brodsky will appear at the Issaquah Depot Museum at 7:00 pm on January 15. The museum is on First Avenue NE. Poster printing can be used to create advertisements for events like this.
