Warm weather brings people out to enjoy mild summer evenings, and in Issaquah, that also means music.
Every summer, the City of Issaquah organizes Concerts on the Green, a family-friendly series of concerts held at the Issaquah Community Center, on its front lawn.
The upcoming August concerts feature the bands Drop It Like It’s Yacht, Harmonious Funk, ABBAgraphs, and Atomic Pop. Drop It Like It’s Yacht, as their name implies, plays yacht rock. Yacht rock is hard to define but is generally thought of as soft rock, or the “West Coast sound.” It draws on sources such as R&B, smooth jazz, and smooth soul. The song “Sailing” by Christopher Cross is a typical yacht rock tune.
Harmonious Funk blends classic Soul and R&B with contemporary versions of the genres and plays Top 40 hits through the decades.
ABBAgraphs is a tribute band to the Swedish supergroup ABBA. Based in the Pacific Northwest, this six-piece band recreates the ABBA magic with songs like “Dancing Queen,” “Mamma Mia”, and more.
Atomic Pop is a party band based in Seattle who play the hits from the 1980s until today, focusing on adult rock and pop.
Drop It Like It’s Yacht will perform on August 4, from 7.00 pm until 8.30 pm; Harmonious Funk appears August 11, ABBAgraphs plays on August 18, and Atomic Pop ends the series on August 25.
