A celebration that is either beautiful or frightening, depending on a person’s perspective, will enliven Issaquah soon.
The Day of the Dead (Día de (los) Muertos) is a traditional Mexican celebration of community and culture. This year, the event in Issaquah is hosted by The Circle, a group that provides events to allow everyone to celebrate and share their culture. This year, the group has chosen to highlight the colorful Mexican state of Oaxaca.
Organizers have planned an afternoon full of interesting activities. These include giving attendees the chance to decorate a Mexican mask, take part in three separate art workshops that will be conducted by artists from the local area, and have their faces painted. Mariachi musicians and traditional dancers will perform all day, and tasty food will be served.
The Circle members who are organizing the afternoon point out that everyone coming is encouraged to share their own memories of their family and culture, making it a true community celebration. Events of this type are the perfect places for colorful decorations, which organizers can create using banner printing.
The Day of the Dead celebration is scheduled for November 1, from 1.00 pm until 5.00 pm, at the Issaquah Community Center, located at 301 Rainier Boulevard South. Each attendee will need a ticket, but there is no admission charge. Orders are limited to five tickets, but there is no limit on the number of orders.
