Issaquah is a diverse city, and will be celebrating its many cultures this September.
This year’s annual Issaquah Culture Fest event will be held on the lawn of the Issaquah Community Center. It is hosted by the City of Issaquah, working with the King County Library System Issaquah Library, the Issaquah Highlands Council, Friends of the Issaquah Library, the Downtown Issaquah Association, and 4Culture.
Planned festivities include food trucks, resource booths, Henna art, interactive art, world dances, and music. Scheduled food trucks include the Issaquah Ice Cream Trike, Mexican cuisine from La Chingona Taqueria, and Vietnamese cuisine courtesy of the Mami Tran Food Truck.
Live performances will include the Aizhan Group, violins and Kazakh singer; Ojasvi Art, a Balinese Indian dance performance; the Kalamandapam Kuchipudi Dance School from Andhra Pradesh, India; the Bulgarian music ensemble Hopa Trop Folk Dance Ensemble; a DJ from Enders Entertainment; violinist Eldar Hudiyev from Turkmenistan; musician Carol (Yiying) Zhou; and the Northwest NANTA Ensemble, which combines traditional Korean percussion with modern movement and music.
Additional activities include interactive demonstrations and art including Semilla Flamenca + Folklorica; the Eastside Sketch Society; and free henna art for people of all ages, courtesy of Ojasvi Henna Artists.
The Culture Fest is set for September 18, from 5.30 pm until 7.30 pm, and is family-friendly and free of charge. In order to provide publicity for events like this, organizers can work with poster printing specialists to create colorful advertisements.
