Cultural celebration planned in Issaquah

Residents of Issaquah and the surrounding area are invited to celebrate the city's diverse culture.

Issaquah Welcomes You: A Cultural Celebration is about to take place at the Issaquah Library on Sunset Way. Everyone is invited to meet Fred Butler, Issaquah's mayor, as well as other city officials, and celebrate the various people that make up the city. The event will feature treats, dances, music, traditional dress, and art from all over the world.

The program is part of Welcoming America Week, and gives people a chance to meet their neighbors and learn about them. The nationwide network of the Welcoming America organization helps cities and towns become more prosperous by making sure everyone feels like they are part of the community. Welcoming America believes that everyone, including immigrants, should be allowed to contribute, and help make their community successful. The organization also recognizes that more and more places are learning that welcoming everyone leads to increased wellbeing for all, and provides support to help communities learn how to provide a nurturing environment.

Issaquah is home to Native Americans of the Sammamish and Snoqualmie tribes, as well as immigrants from Asia, Africa, and all around the world.

The celebration is scheduled for September 20, and Welcoming America Week runs from September 15-24.

Events like this can be even more festive if organizers use colorful Banners to decorate the venue.
