An upcoming event promises three days of fantastical fun in Aberdeen.
The Grays Harbor Historical Seaport is the host of the upcoming Renaissance and Fantasy Faire, the inaugural year for the event. The Seaport hopes it will be successful enough to become a regular part of the summer.
According to Valerie Scanlon, event co-chair, specific details are still being planned, but preliminary information indicates that the Faire will include musicians, regional and local theater groups, street performers, food, games, craftspeople, and members of the Society for Creative Anachronism. The SCA is a national organization that attends role-playing events in costumes and with equipment accurate to the last detail.
The Faire is a fundraiser for the Lady Washington and the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport. The non-profit Seaport’s mission is to recreational, vocational, and educational experiences and activities that promote and preserve the maritime history of the region.
The Lady Washington is a replica of the original Washington/Lady Washington, a brig that sailed during the years from approximately 1750-1798. A brig is a sailing ship distinguished by two square-rigged masts. The Lady Washington is the state’s official ship and was launched in 1989. She was built by the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority in Aberdeen.
The Renaissance and Fantasy Faire is scheduled for September 11-13, from 10.00 am until 7.00 pm all three days, at Seaport Landing, 500 North Custer in Aberdeen. Events like this can be advertised with colorful Posters organizers will find at Print shops.
