Periodically, Aberdeen becomes the site of an important class in public safety, and now a new session is scheduled.
A Flagger Certification Course, which is taken from the curriculum of the American Traffic Safety Services Association, is available and will be held at Grays Harbor College. Graduates will be able to work as certified flaggers and will be added to the National Flagger Database. The certification is valid for three years in Montana, Idaho, and Washington, and renewing the certification also renews the listing on the national database.
Flaggers are vital parts of road crews. They handle traffic control and proper warning measures in work zones. Their presence keeps workers safe, and helps keep traffic moving consistently and safely, without undue delays.
The course is a daylong event, and the fee is $75, the full amount of which is due at registration. The registration window closes 48 hours prior to the beginning of the class, and no-shows will not receive a refund, but refunds are available to students who withdraw a minimum of one day before the class.
The course requires that students be 18 years of age, have photo ID, complete the course with 80% or better to obtain certification, and arrive no later than 7.55 am. Sessions like this can be enhanced by organizers using flyer printing to distribute handouts in the local area, an economical way to publicize the event.
The Flagger Certification Course is set for January 10 at 8.00 am.
