What's Happening in Aberdeen, WA…

Aberdeen is going all out with its celebration of the country’s birthday.

Five Star Dealerships and the Downtown Aberdeen Association are teaming up for the “Red, White and Boom!” celebration, formerly known as “Splash.” The activities are spread throughout the downtown, and include carnival games, special kids’ treats, a car cruise-in, food vendors, and live entertainment.

Live entertainment includes Jon Reynods of Jon Reynolds Music, and the one-man band, Eric Haines. Reynolds is a singer/songwriter from the Pacific Northwest, where he is currently performing in local shows. He presents his own material as well as covers of songs like “Badfish” by Sublime and the classic “Horse with No Name” by America.

As the name suggests, a one-man band is one musician playing a variety of instruments by themselves. Eric Haines is such an artist, has traveled the world, opened for artists such as Weird Al Yankovic, and performed over 8,000 live shows. He uses a bass drum, banjo, whistles, bells, and more.

The July 4 Downtown Aberdeen activities are scheduled from 11.00 am until 4.00 pm, and the day ends with fireworks at Morrison Riverfront Park at 10.00 pm. The fireworks will be synchronized with music and broadcast over 104.7 KDUX. The entire day is free of charge, except for vendors. Events like this can be even more festive if organizers use banner printing to create appropriate decorations for participating venues.
