Race in Aberdeen celebrates recovery

An upcoming almost-5K in Aberdeen is a celebration of community and recovery.

The Quinault Wellness Center in Aberdeen is the organizers of the 4th Annual Race for Recovery. The event seeks to raise awareness of the problem of substance abuse, recovery from the disorder, and the center’s holistic approach to treatment. The center tailors their services to individual clients’ needs and keeping their services reasonable enables the center to provide non-judgmental, accessible care to anyone seeking assistance.

The center acknowledges that substance use impacts the community at large, not just the person struggling, so they provide care and information to members of the community who are impacted by a loved one’s struggles.

Anyone who wants to participate should register as early as possible. Early registration will entitle the person to a T-shirt, and official timing on race day. People who register on the day of the race will do so on site, but there will be no official timing, and T-Shirts may not be available.

The race is not quite 5K; the distance is 2.89 miles, which is 4.6K. The date of the race is June 27, and will be held from 10.00 am until 12.00 pm, with the race beginning at 10.30 am. The fee is $30, but children under 17 who run with an adult can participate for free. Events like this can benefit when organizers use banner printing to create markers that clearly show the route.
