Running for a cause in Aberdeen

An upcoming event will help support an important facility in Aberdeen.

The Quinault Wellness Center is the organizer of the 2nd Annual Race for Recovery. The event is designed to raise valuable funds for the center, which is known locally for taking a holistic approach to treating substance abuse issues. The center accepts all community members, and emphasizes that it is not necessary to be affiliated with a local tribe to seek assistance.

The Race for Recovery is a 5k run or walk, and gives local residents an opportunity to promote a good cause while they get some exercise.

The Wellness Center understands that substance issues have a major impact on families and the community, as well as the individual. As such, it provides care that helps the individual and examines the underlying influences that contribute to the difficulty.

Those who register for the race will receive a T-shirt and a gift bag. Additional donations to the center will be accepted with thanks.

Children 12 and younger can take part in the race without charge, as long as they are accompanied by a participating adult. Gift baskets will be given to the winners in each division, as well as bragging rights. The Center will help cover the cost of entry for those who need assistance.

The Race for Recovery is scheduled for May 18 at 8.00 am. Organizers of outdoor events like this often use banner printing to create sturdy signage to mark the course.
