An upcoming bike ride will draw riders from Aberdeen and throughout the area.
The American Lung Association has scheduled one of its main fundraising events, Reach the Beach Washington. This is the fifth year for the event, which brings hundreds of cyclists together from throughout the Northwest to raise funds for lung health. The event is open to riders of all skill levels, and offers different distances, from 25 miles to 100 miles. All of the rides, no matter where they start, end on the Westport, Washington beach.
Those who would rather undertake a virtual ride have that option via Cycle Your Way. Events organized by Cycle For Air have raised almost $30m in support of lung health research. The American Lung Association has been working on lung health issues since 1904.
There are several starting points for the race. The main starting line is in Lacey at the Regional Athletic Complex. This is the beginning of the 100-mile ride. A 77-mile option starts at the Littlerock Elementary School in Olympia, and a 44-mile route begins at the Elma High School in Elma. Finally, the 20-mile course starts at Miller Junior High School in Aberdeen. Organizers of events like this can use banner printing to create course markers for participants to follow.
The ride is set for September 25, beginning at 7:00 am.
