Popular event kicks off season in Aberdeen

The first in a series of popular annual events is scheduled to take place in Aberdeen.

Every month, residents and visitors can enjoy the First Friday Art Walk in downtown Aberdeen. Alder Grove Gallery organizes the works of the finest artists in Western Washington, opening new shows during each First Friday.

The Aberdeen Art Center is the venue for the events, where visitors will be able to chat with the artists and see their work. Live music will be performed on the Alder Gallery Stage, and there will be live demonstrations on the commons. Punch and snacks will be available as well.

A free art class is offered by the Harbor Art Guild as part of the First Friday Art Walks. Adults and young adults are encouraged to attend, but the class is unsuitable for younger children.

The events are open to everyone, but organizers want to remind parents that many of the items on exhibit are fragile, so they must supervise their children directly and not allow them to run or explore by themselves. This is a safety issue as many works of art are displayed on lower shelves. If something is broken, people could be injured.

The first Art Walk of the year is scheduled for May 6. When events include displays of artwork, organizers can use brochure printing to create a pamphlet discussing the art and the artist.
