An upcoming class in Aberdeen is going to provide people with instruction in how to create a painting, but no one is expected to be a Monet overnight.
As part of Aberdeen’s First Friday Art Walk, the Harbor Art Guild is sponsoring a painting class, free of charge. The instructor is local artist Marshelle Backes who is with Paint - Laugh – Repeat, and who has hosted similar events.
Painting materials will be provided free of charge, as class attendees try their hand at painting a work of art with a Cinco de Mayo theme. The event is not meant to be a serious art study, just a fun and creative evening. Backes will provide detailed instructions, so it is not necessary for attendees to have any experience in painting or drawing. All attendees need is a desire to enjoy themselves.
Although there is no charge for the session, there is only room for 16 participants, so anyone interested needs to pre-register. In addition, participants must be at least 18 years of age, and those over 21 may purchase glasses of wine. When events like this are planned, organizers can use flyer printing to create instructional handouts for attendees.
The class is scheduled for next Friday, May 5, from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm, and drinks, snacks, and other refreshments will be provided. The venue is the Aberdeen Art Center on West Market Street.
