An upcoming event in Aberdeen promises to be fanciful and fun.
The 2024 Mermaid Festival is a nine-day event packed full of things to do, people to see, and shows to enjoy. People are encouraged to come in costume.
Among the attractions is Una the Mermaid, who will be found in her tank each day, from 11.00am until 12.00pm, 1.00pm until 2.00pm, and 3.00pm until 4.00pm. She is the head of the Portland Mermaid Cove and the creator of the Portland Mermaid Parade.
Another mermaid, Olive the Alchemist, will be on the museum’s mermaid throne every day from 11.00am until 4.00pm. Olive is a former Miss Washington, a former Disney performer, and Miss Ocean Ambassador. She is the creator of the Seattle Mermaid School.
Other entertainers are Vertical Axis performers Amanda Thornton and Nick Perry, who perform a combination of dance and music while suspended from a tower 20 feet tall. Their shows are at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm every day.
Unicorns and their handler, fire dancers, and Celtic musicians are only some of the other attractions to be found at the festival, which runs from April 6 through April 14 at the Mermaid Museum on South Arbor Road in Aberdeen, next to the lighthouse. The museum will be open to everyone without charge during the festival. When events like this are planned, organizers will often use poster printing to create suitable advertising for them.
