As has become customary, the New Year will start in Aberdeen with a round of golf.
Grays Harbor Country Club will be the site of the New Year Mulligan Tournament. A Mulligan tournament is meant to be a fun outing rather than a serious contest that follows the rules rigidly. Instead, it gives golfers a chance for a “do over” if they make a terrible shot. There is no penalty for using a Mulligan; instead, it is as if the golfer had not made the shot in the first place.
However, before the game starts, players must decide how they will use Mulligans in their game. They may decide that only a certain number can be used in an entire round, or perhaps they will be allowed only for tee shots, or for the first tee shot only.
In some games, recalls are also allowed. They are like Mulligans, except they are called on one player by another. This means that someone who made a great shot may be forced to shoot again, perhaps in the hope they will botch the second attempt. However, it is in fun and can end an extra layer of strategy to the game.
The tournament is on New Year’s Day, January 1. The club is at 5300 Central Park Drive in Aberdeen. With events like these, organizers can use banner printing to create decorations welcoming participants.
