Aberdeen prepares to paint

An event that is sure to make a splash is coming up in Aberdeen.

The event, according to the announcement, is “not a serious painting lesson class,” and will be led by Marshelle Backes, who has an organization called Paint – Laugh – Repeat. Backes is a Harbor Art Guild member, who shows her work at the Alder Grove Gallery.

She has taught at Lane Community College where she was an instructor of web design, graphic design, drawing, and painting, and is now giving classes at the Aberdeen Art Center, which is the location of the upcoming class.

At this laid-back class, attendees will be creating a painting with a Spring theme, and Backes will provide all the materials as well as the instruction. She will also do the clean-up after the event. Drinks, snacks, and other refreshments will be provided.

Everyone interested is welcome to attend and no experience is necessary. The event is part of the First Friday Art Walk, a great way to enjoy Aberdeen. There is no charge for the class, but there are only 16 spaces, so anyone who wants to attend needs to register beforehand. The class is for those 18 and over, and wine will be available to those 21 and older.

The class is on Friday, April 7 at 5:30 pm at the Aberdeen Art Center. Organizers of events like this can use flyer printing to create instruction sheets, even for whimsical classes.
