The Devon McGarry Band is an acoustic rock outfit that has had a lot of success at venues throughout Vermont. The band comprises McGarry himself, along with Jeff Messina, Mitch Terricciano, and Rich Armstrong, all of them seasoned musicians.
Their music is based around McGarry’s intense rhythms and lyrics, which are then crafted by the rest of the band into a distinctive soundscape. After McGarry provides the hook, lead guitarist Messina follows up with a blistering solo, while Terricciano on bass guitar and drummer Armstrong provide the foundation. The result is that some songs remind listeners of the alternative scene of the 1990s, while others are a mix of genres.
The band offers original material as well as covers, and began performing in 2016. In January 2017, they made their Burlington debut at the Half Lounge. A few months later they returned, this time to a sold-out house. They released their EP “Echo Chamber,” before moving on to shows in Southern Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine in 2018. They released their full-length album “The Time” that year.
