The Zack’s Place Turkey Trot will take place on Thanksgiving Day in Woodstock, just a short drive from Colchester.
The highly-anticipated 5K event began in 2007 with just 200 people participating, and has grown to be a substantial annual fundraiser for Zack’s Place, a community enrichment center. Over 1,500 people participated last year and raised approximately $80,000,
A band on a flatbed truck welcomes the individuals as they arrive for registration. Refreshments, including tea, coffee, and hot chocolate will be available. Participants should meet at the Woodstock Elementary School at 10:00 am. The more experienced runners will be in front, with the remainder of the group following.
Teams, families, and other groupings of people can run or walk together. Seniors and young children can walk and dogs on leashes are welcome. Satellite participants can also join the fun by running remotely in areas of their choice or at home on exercise equipment.
The event takes runners through the historic neighborhoods of the Village of Woodstock, and on to Billings Farm. The next leg of the journey takes runners around Mountain Avenue to the Town Green and then back to the starting spot. An awards ceremony will present race awards as spectators enjoy treats and music.
Banner printing is available to create readily visible signage so everyone knows where to go on the route. Print shops can handle projects of this type.
