Quilting event has plenty covered

The Vermont Quilt Festival is taking place in Essex Valley for three days in a few weeks’ time.

The festival will have lots to appeal to those who appreciate the art and craft of quilting. There will be displays of new and antique quilts, a merchants’ mall with more than 80 vendors, special exhibits, lectures, classes, quilting demonstrations and gallery talks. Visitors can also bring in their new or antique quilts to be appraised by experts.

Quilters who are exhibiting and selling their quilts will be competing for prizes in nine categories. Some of the awards are Best of Show, Founder's Award, and Best Beginner Quilter.

Those who can't wait for the show to begin can attend the special Champagne and Chocolate Preview the day before it opens. Guests will enjoy gourmet chocolate and champagne while they browse through the merchants’ mall.

No doubt this show will attract quilters from all over the state, including nearby Hinesburg. To ensure a good turnout, it is possible that organizers will have contacted a local Print company to provide them with Flyers and Posters to be distributed in the area.

The festival will be held at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction from June 27 to 29. Tickets are $12 a day, $22 for two days, or $32 for three days; children aged 14 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. The Champagne and Chocolate Preview is taking place on June 26, and tickets are $12 each. Call 802-872-0034 for more information about the festival.
