Popular race returns to Colchester

An upcoming race in Colchester is limiting the number of participants, so anyone interested should sign up now.

The Causeway 5K, 10K & 15K Race gives participants the choice of the distance they prefer to run. Runners will cover the same course, but turn around at different points. The route begins at Airport Park, and follows flat dirt and gravel trails, through various wetlands that afford scenic views of Lake Champlain, and then leads participants out onto the Colchester Causeway itself. Proceeds from the race go to help the upkeep of the Causeway.

Everyone is welcome to take part in the race, but those in the 10K and 15K segments must be 12 years of age at a minimum. To help keep everyone safe, baby joggers, rollerblades, bicycles, and people running with a dog will not be allowed to participate, or be on the path while the race is underway. There is a limit of 200 runners in the 5K, and 250 runners in both the 10K and 15K.

The date of the race is Saturday, June 1, with bib pick-up and check in between 7:00 am and 7:45 am. The race will begin at 8:00 am, and is chip-timed for accuracy. The entry fee is $35, and registration is now open online. The fee includes a T-shirt, results, and refreshments after the race. When outdoor events like this are scheduled, organizers often use banner printing to create sturdy course markers.
